The River Ouse around York has provided some great sport in recent years. A lot of hard work has gone into the venue to enable this recent upturn in form with lots of new pegs being cut-out and cleared. The match is likely to be decided by the large bream and skimmer shoals, there is Barbel present and do show in a few places, but if the river is running low at this time of year, ignore the roach and perch at your peril! Best tactics for when the river is low is on the pole and long rod, when the river is coloured, the feeder is a successful method.

This year the qualifier will be above York at Poppleton.

Depths vary from six to twenty feet.
