First qualifier of the season and it was a tough one with a rising river and most anglers battling against the strong winds. Winner on the day was Steve Guy with a weight of 24lb-12oz consisting of 32 small Chub and 6 Dace all taken on float tactics from his peg at Riding Mill (zone B). Runner up on the day was Nige Collis who managed a few decent Chub for a weight of 24lb-06oz to take zone A and finally Jeff Herbert took the honors in zone C with a weight of 17lb-00.
River Swale Northalerton 28/06/2025
With a rapidly rising river this one was always going to be tricky, some anglers catching in the first hour then having to move out of the peg due to the rise in levels and in the process scuppering their chances. We still have our qualifiers though and match winner was venue expert Fred Hardcastle making no mistakes from his draw in zone B to qualify with a Chub weight of 29lb-03oz. Chris Hunter won Zone A with a contrasting weight of only 4lb-15oz (a little different to his 190lb last season)! Chris had a number of small Dace and tiny Chub on the stick in the slack water in the margins of his swim.
River Tees – Yarm 12/07/2025
Winner on the day was the organiser and local expert Peter Close (pictured centre) who bagged a weight of 17lb – 02oz from peg 186 (Zone C) fishing the pole for the full match Peter caught small skimmers and a couple of better Bream to seal his place in this years final. Michael Bower (pictured left) qualified from Zone A (peg 135) with a weight of 11lb -10oz of small Skimmers and Roach on the pole. Last angler through was Neil Waters who again had his weight on the pole (14lb – 03oz) with the exception of one far bank Bream on the feeder to take Zone B
River Ouse above York 19/07/2025
None stop rain greeting the anglers for this latest qualifier, the expected Bream weights failed to show but all the qualifiers included a Bream or two in their catch. Leading the way was local youngster Adam Stone (pictured center) drawing the fancied end peg 36 in zone 3 at Poppleton he made no mistake in bagging a few bream and Roach for a winning weight of 12lb-06oz, zone 2 qualifier was Martyn Highe (pictured left) with weight of 10lb-15oz, zone 1 qualifier was John Murray whose weight of 7lb-15oz was just enough to see him through to yet another final.
